AN ABRIDGED BIOGRAPHY
Josh Schroeder is a Pacific-Northwest based artist, a national award-winning songwriter/composer, two-time Grammy performer, session musician and producer.
Schroeder’s solo releases include the EPs "Love is a Shade" and "Stark" independently (2009), "Mourningside" (2013), “Vignettes” (2013), and 2 EP releases in 2022 “Locked Behind An Open Door” and “Ocean of Space.” He is currently nearing the completion of a full-length solo album due Fall 2023.
After years of development in the studio and an increasing interest in electronic music, Schroeder began work on his project, EXROYALE in Oct. 2013. EXROYALE released their first single “Give It Up” to international critical acclaim in Nov. 2013, including praise from NME Magazine, Hunger TV Magazine, DIY Magazine, and The 405 as well as attention from major labels, publishers, and management agencies. Schroeder also developed his Orwellian-influenced recording project project, Sleep Millennium and released “Let Us Begin the Future” in 2018 as well as a string of singles with the band in 2019. After 2020, Schroeder and bassist/composer Jarred Venti reformed as Outer Moon and are currently recording new material with drummer John McConnell and Clawfoot Slumber front-man, Alex Callenberger.
Schroeder signed a major music publishing deal in Sept. 2009 and with the help of Casablanca Media Publishing, began building his presence in the Film/TV/Advertising world. In 2011, he penned the theme song for the newly rebranded BBC Kids Network in Canada. His song "The Answer" is featured in the Canadian cellular provider Telus' 'Beautiful Mind' Canadian National ad campaign, and his work has been featured prominently in international hit TV shows such as Flashpoint, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Being Erica, Make It or Break It, and Being Human. Through his custom music creative company, Wavelength Studio, Schroeder has recently penned scores for Apple, Intel, Microsoft, and Sembcorp, as well as many other international brands. Schroeder is a past winner of the National John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship and was an honored member of the 2007 class of ASCAP's Lester Sill Songwriting Workshop. Schroeder graduated in 2005 with a BA in Music Business from Central Washington University, studied Sound Studio Techniques and Advertising at London College of Music and Media, and holds a certificate in Digital Marketing from Portland State University. He began his career as a professional with internships at Windswept Pacific Music Publishing and the Law Offices of D. Burgundy Morgan. He managed the acclaimed Cryptogramophone Records and was director of marketing for 15 releases during his tenure with the label.
Schroeder opened Thousand Echoes studio along with his wife, artist Miranda Vettrus in 2020. Together, they lead worship at their family church and have two children.
